New UTM packs with new pricing!

Equiinet has introduced new UTM software licence packs offering more choice and flexibility, plus very competitive pricing. These new packs are available for all current NetPilot models running V5 software.

New pack names to be aware of are 'UTM Standard' and 'UTM Premium'. The lower cost Standard offering can run on any current hardware platform running V5. The fully featured and Checkmark accredited Premium option is suitable for Plus and Enterprise models. One notable change to highlight is that URL filtering is included with both packs.

These changes will, in the main, benefit customers renewing software licenses in second and subsequent years. There are some 'number-of-users' licensing conditions that users need to be aware of on renewal.

Q: In summary what's new?
A: Equiinet have announced new UTM packs for its current NetPilot appliance range. Names of packs and pack contents are new. Pricing is lower and customers have more choice. These changes will, in the main, impact customers renewing software licenses in second and subsequent years. There are some 'number-of-users' licensing conditions that users need to be aware of on renewal.

Q: Why have the changes occurred?
A: Equiinet decided it was in a position to simplify structures and offer more competitive pricing to help both its partners and end users. Effective start date for these changes is 1st July 2008.

Q: What are the new pack names and what do these replace?
A: The two new packs are called UTM Standard and UTM Premium. Equiinet has phased out the LiteUTM, UTM Email protection and UTM Total Protection packs. In addition separate URL filtering licenses are now obsolete as this functionality is included within both new UTM packs.

Q: What does the UTM Premium pack comprise?
A: UTM Premium includes all security elements available from Equiinet and has the most Checkmark accreditations of any product available. It includes Advanced Firewall, Email and Browsing Anti-Virus from Sophos, Anti-Spam, URL Filtering, Software Upgrade Service, Email Policy Filtering, Anti- Spyware, Browsing Anti-Virus and Intrusion Detection.

Q: What does the UTM Standard pack comprise?
A: UTM Standard is designed for users who don't need all the advanced features offered by UTM Premium. It includes Advanced Firewall, Email Anti-Virus based on Clam, Anti-Spam, URL Filtering, Software Upgrade Service, and Email Policy Filtering.

Q: What extra capabilities do I get with UTM Premium, or what do I lose by going for the Standard pack?
A: The premium option has everything that Equiinet can provide and is fully Checkmark accredited. The UTM Standard is a subset and consequently is lower cost. Of particular note regarding differentiation, the UTM Standard pack has Anti-Virus based on Clam; whereas the UTM Premium pack uses Checkmark accredited Sophos to offer both Anti-Virus for email and browsing, as well as Anti-Spyware.

A: See below. The two upper end models (the Plus and the Enterprise ) come with a 12 month's UTM Premium subscription. The NetPilot Lite comes with a 25 user UTM Standard subscription (UTM Standard is the only pack available for NetPilot Lite ). The Remote has no UTM bundled.

Q: What pack can be purchased for which product at renewal time?
A: See below. UTM Standard is the only pack available for NetPilot Lite. Customers of NetPilot Plus and Enterprise , should they so desire, can renew for Year 2 (or beyond) with UTM Standard, rather than the UTM Premium which was included with the new product.

Q: Are there 'number-of-users' limitations with Standard and Premium UTM packs at renewal for second or subsequent years?
A:Yes. The Licensed numbers of users for various products is shown in the table below. There is essentially a lower band and an upper band for the three products that can use the new UTM packs. If you need to attach more users, contact Equiinet for availability and costs.

A: The NetPilot Remote is ideal for small offices with up to 15 users and is available without any UTM functionality - just firewall and VPN features.

Q: What is the Software Upgrade Service subscription?
A: Users who do not subscribe to any UTM pack, nor subscribe to any other applicable support service, should subscribe to a Software Upgrade license to obtain latest operating system updates.
